In 2023, Mon Club International conducted rapid needs assessments in hard-to-reach locations, particularly in New Marte of Marte Local Government Area and Ngoshe of Gwoza Local Government Area in Borno State. These areas were identified as extremely difficult to access due to their remote locations, the presence of non-state armed groups, and limited infrastructure. As a result, there had been little or no humanitarian activity in these communities, and information about their conditions remained scarce. The assessments were designed to provide a detailed and accurate understanding of the humanitarian situation on the ground. They were conducted by experienced teams with expertise in data collection and analysis, who worked closely with local communities, authorities, and agencies to ensure that a comprehensive picture of the situation was obtained. Findings from the assessments revealed critical gaps in access to basic services such as water, food, healthcare, and education. They also provided insights into the security conditions in the area, including the effects of violence and conflict on community life. The results of these assessments have been used to guide Mon Club International’s humanitarian response planning in these locations. The information was shared with donors, policymakers, and other stakeholders to highlight priority needs and inform coordinated action.
