Mon Club International, in partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP), implemented a food assistance project in Damasak, Mobbar LGA of Borno State under the WFP Country Strategic Plan. The program targeted 72,000 individuals, including 1,500 new arrivals, providing general food assistance through in-kind distribution, as well as supplementary nutrition support for children aged 6–23 months, pregnant and breastfeeding women, and other vulnerable groups. A total of 587 Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) sessions were conducted, reaching 5,104 caregivers with Social and Behaviour Change Communication messages on hygiene, exclusive breastfeeding, and malnutrition prevention. Active case finding screened 9,404 children under two, while 12 cooking demonstrations reached 180 participants.
The nutrition top-up intervention benefited 12,127 pregnant and breastfeeding women and 38,515 children under two. Over the reporting period, 714,340 individuals received general food distribution, and 5,428 newly arrived households were profiled and served with one-off food assistance. To improve fairness, a new scooping modality was introduced in March 2025 to ensure beneficiaries received accurate food rations. Staff, skilled, and unskilled workers also received training on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), security, and project-related topics. The project faced challenges with registering new arrivals but successfully integrated them into the program to ensure continued access to food assistance.
