Mon Club International, in partnership with Mercy Corps, implemented an ECHO-funded multi-sectoral project in Marte LGA, Borno State, to address the acute humanitarian needs of crisis-affected returnees and vulnerable households. The project provided integrated assistance through voucher-based interventions covering food security, WASH, shelter, protection, and livelihood support. Despite delays due to a government embargo on food distribution, the project successfully adapted its approach by introducing arable farming and backyard kitchen gardening for 600 participants with farming experience and access to land. Throughout the reporting period, Mon Club International conducted hygiene promotion sessions, rehabilitated water points, distributed fuel-efficient stoves, shelter kits, and arable seeds, and supported environmental sanitation campaigns. Community engagement and protection training were integral to all activities, ensuring accountability, inclusivity, and safety. Despite challenges such as flooding, poor road access, and budget constraints, the project strengthened food security, improved hygiene practices, and enhanced resilience among vulnerable households in Marte, contributing to improved living conditions and community wellbeing.
