The World Food Programme (WFP) food assistance project aimed to ensure that food-insecure internally displaced persons, refugees, returnees, and host community members in crisis-affected areas of Nigeria had access to adequate and nutritious food, as well as early recovery support during and after shocks. The plan focused on three main areas: providing food or cash assistance to vulnerable populations, offering livelihood support to crisis-affected households, and delivering nutrition support to children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, and other vulnerable groups. These objectives were achieved through in-kind food distribution, cash-based transfers, and capacity-strengthening activities. In line with this goal, Mon Club International signed a partnership with the World Food Programme to provide life-saving assistance in Borno State, Northeast Nigeria. The project aimed to reduce hunger and save the lives of 91,000 individuals in Damasak by addressing both immediate food needs and acute malnutrition. To reach these goals, Mon Club International registered eligible households, formed mother-to-mother support groups, conducted MUAC screenings and referred beneficiaries for nutritional support. MCI also carried out general food distributions to vulnerable households and implemented a Blanket Supplementary Feeding Programme for children under two, as well as for pregnant and breastfeeding women and girls.
